Nathan Ra is Movin' On 2024's ARHS Liaison. Ra is a junior mechanical engineering major, and has been involved in Movin’ On since freshman year.
As the ARHS Liason, Ra communicates between Movin’ On and the Association of Residence Hall Students, which represents the students living on campus. He also presents budget requests for marketing and hospitality to the ARHS board.
During his freshman year, he volunteered for the festival load-in. From there, he decided to join Movin’ On during his sophomore year and beame a Battle Coordinator. Through this role, he assisted in planning and executing Battle, an event where Penn State student performers compete for the opening spot at Movin' On.
“I fell in love with the organization," Ra said. "It was a cool experience to build the stage and help handle the artist's equipment."
Building the stage on the IM Fields in the few days before the festival sparked Ra's initial interest in Movin' On.
“The best day of load-in is the day before the festival when the sound guys are testing out the speakers because you get to work and listen to music,” Ra said.
His favorite memory was during the load-out of Movin’ On 2023, as he was able to spend quality time with close friends he had made within the organization.
From being in Movin' On, Ra said that he has learned about the time and effort that goes into the planning and execution of the festival.
“The Executive Board works extremely hard all year to bring Penn State students the best festival experience possible,” Ra said.
Outside of Movin’ On, Ra is the president of Second Floor Stand Up Comedy Club.
Ra is looking forward to the festival next week, and tells everyone to “Come to Movin On on April 26 in the IM Fields!”
