We are living through a very interesting and life-impacting period right now. A few years from now our kids will be learning about the days of COVID-19 and what life was like.
Quarantine Quarantine Quarantine
There is no denying the impact the coronavirus has had on a global level. For most of the world, life is on pause until we can find a way to flatten the curve of people affected by the virus. Millions are out of work, working from home, or remote learning – doing whatever they can to participate in social distancing.
The crazy part about all of this is that we don’t exactly know what’s next. We can make guesses and hypotheses, but we can only take things one day at a time. For the safety of the public, a lot of events had to be postponed or canceled like our very own festival that would have taken place in just a few weeks. Bigger events like SWAN North American tour, Niall Horan’s world tour, Tomorrowland 2020, Alabama’s Hangout Fest, and Coachella have been canceled or postponed.
While the world is on pause, we still have music to keep us connected and motivated. Whether it be through sharing music playlist with friends or making up our own quarantine songs – “yeah I’m bored in the house, and I’m in the house bored”—together with music we can make it through.
The Show Must Go On
I am not quite sure what day of quarantine it is. Honestly, after day 11 I lost track. But I have to commend all the artists around the world for doing what they can to still connect with their fans during this period of social distancing. It’s true what they say on twitter, artists have become essential workers. From dropping new music to at-home concerts via Instagram live, they have been keeping us quite entertained. Below are a few examples of what has been going on.
1. Tory Lanez’s Quarantine Radio
2. Justin Bieber’s frequent IG Lives with his wife *they are so cute*
3. Trillerfest – Largest virtual music festival
4. Kennybeats’ Twitch Sessions
5. Guapdad 4000’s #RonaRaps
6. Coldplay’s #TogetherAtHome
7. VICE: NOISEY NIGHT IN
8. Seder Stream Music Festival curated by Kosha Dillz
9. Verizon’s “Pay It Forward Live”
10. BTS’ “Bang Bang Con”
Even with all that is going on around us, there are little things that can put smiles on our faces. Cardi B was on Instagram live with Bernie Sanders, aka Uncle Bernie – how could you not smile at that?
Oh and I almost forgot to mention how much I am loving these #toosieslidechallenge videos on Tik Tok!
