Movin' On Launches Giving Tuesday Campaign

It’s that time! The snow has begun to fall, holiday decorations are up and it’s that point in the year where everyone feels a little extra generous. That’s why Movin’ On is launching its renewed Giving Tuesday campaign! 

Giving Tuesday is a global movement that encourages people to give back and donate on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. 

This year, Movin’ On is collaborating with Penn State Giving Tuesday, Raise Penn State, and Penn State Student Philanthropy to finalize the Movin’ On Endowment. This endowment, which has the mission to empower students, will directly benefit the Movin’ On Scholarship. 

The scholarship was launched during Movin’ On’s 50th Anniversary celebration (2024), with support from Luke Combs and Penn State, marking an extremely pertinent milestone in the organization's history. 

The scholarship is meant to recognize Penn State students who demonstrate exceptional leadership, creativity, and commitment to advancing live music and campus life.

Movin’ On has been a pillar in the Penn State community since 1975, granting students with an immersive, hands-on learning experience in the music industry. Students spend the entire academic year planning, promoting and envisioning the large end-of-year concert at the IM fields, which will take place the Friday before finals week. During that time students also wholly create events like Spotlight Series, Acoustic Roadshows and Battle. 

"I came from a small town with no industry connections, yet my time with Movin’ On opened doors and caught the attention of professionals which ultimately led me to my career in the heart of the live music world,” Sofia Moussan, Executive Assistant at Live Nation and Movin’ On’s 2023-2024 Executive Director, said. “Everyone deserves the opportunity to pour their whole heart into their passion the way that I was lucky enough to.” 

By participating in Giving Tuesday and making a contribution of any size, donors can make a lasting, meaningful impact on not only Movin’ On as a whole but also the students who make the organization possible and successful. Giving Tuesday is set to kick off on December 1st, and the official day is December 2nd.
