The Art Of A Remix Album

Releasing an innovative, well-perceived album in 2026 is no easy feat. Releasing an entirely remixed version of that same album? Even harder. However, we’re beginning to see a trend of pop artists opting to go back into the lab after dropping a successful project to spit out a whole new one while staying grounded in the original body of work.

The most notable recent example of this concept came from Charli XCX and her “Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat”, which she released four months after her wildly successful launch of “BRAT” in June of 2024. Charli took the foundation of BRAT’s original 15 tracks, tweaked them sonically, and then tapped into her deep industry ties for features from Ariana Grande, Troye Sivan, Addison Rae, Caroline Polacheck, Bladee, Lorde, The Japanese House, Tinashe, Billie Eilish, Kesha, and more to enhance an already brilliant project. Being able to mesh with so many different voices, while also reinventing the project with tempo changes or alternate melodies on a large scale, is something for which Charli deserves her flowers.

Fast forward to October of 2025, when PinkPantheress followed in Charli’s footsteps, doing her big one with a remix album for “Fancy That,” which was released earlier in the year in May.

“Fancy Some More?” included two brand new disks combined into one album. The first disk contained 12 new features from Anitta, Oklou, JT, Bladee, Ravyn Lenae, and, most notably, Zara Larsson on one of the three altered “Stateside” remixes. The British-Swedish collab went ultra-viral and has served as a major boost for both artists into the mainstream. As if that wasn’t enough, Pink delivered a second, production-based disk that offers 10 sonically altered versions from “Fancy That”, totaling 22 uniquely remixed tracks across both disks.

Zara Larsson took notes from the success of her fellow pop girlies, as the 28-year-old recently announced a remixed version of her latest album “Midnight Sun”. “I was super inspired [...] specifically by the Charli remix album. I just thought that was such a fun thing to do,” said Larsson during sound check in Philadelphia on her tour. The pop singer has been teasing fans with Instagram posts about a “girls' trip,” referring to the upcoming project's all-female feature list.

The latest post shows her holding up a map with her iconic pink flowers pinned at various places around the world, including France, South Africa, Colombia, Florida, China, and more. Fans are speculating that these locations indicate where the featured artists on the remix album are from, with guesses ranging from Doechii, PinkPantheress, Kali Uchis, Camila Cabello, Tove Lo, and Tyla. “Midnight Sun” has 10 tracks, yet the map shows 12 flower markings, suggesting that a track or two could get a double feature, or Larsson could surprise fans with totally new tracks.

An official release date for the project hasn’t been announced, but Movin’ On festival-goers should have their fingers crossed for a Friday, May 1st, release date so Larsson can perform her newest tracks live from the IM Fields! Regardless, Midnight Sun deluxe is the latest attempt to capitalize on the remix album trend in pop, one that is refreshing and ultimately great for collaboration across the industry.

The explanations are simple and feel more natural compared to many other articles online. I explored Slope 2 to enjoy smooth controls, endless runner challenges, and fast obstacle movement. It helps players improve focus and gameplay consistency through regular practice sessions.
