It’s that time of year again: students are back on campus, the Target line is 30 minutes long and the weather is getting a little colder. For many they have to mourn the loss of the summer sun and fun, but for Penn State students we get to look forward to LightsUp!
LightsUp is a joint, beginning of the year, concert between yours truly, Movin’ On, and SPA.
The show has brought amazing artists like Flo Mili, Swae Lee and more to kick off the year for the Penn State community.
This year is no different. LightsUp 2025 will be hosting Quavo with Abhi The Nomad!

Quavo
Quavo, born Quavious Keyate Marshall, is originally from Athens, Georgia where he began to find his love for music. He made the decision to drop out of high school just before graduation to pursue music with his childhood friend, Kiari Kendrell Cephus, and nephew, Kirsnick Khari Ball. This trio is better known now as Migos, with Kiari taking the stage name of Offset and Kirsnick as Takeoff.
The group got real stardom from their track Versace which put them on the map. From here, the group blew up. They made exciting, catchy rap and hip-hop songs that a whole generation likely has memorized.
Their first studio album was released in 2016, but their 2017 album, Culture, gained major popularity from hit songs like Bad and Boujee, T-Shirt and Get Right Witcha. From here the group released hits like Narcos, Stir Fry, Motorsport and Handsome and Wealthy.
Through all of these hits Quavo let his unique voice, lyrics and melody shine. He brought melodic hooks, signature ad-libs and energy that made these tracks stand out.
In his solo career, Quavo has also found great success. His first album released outside of Migos was in collaboration with Huncho and Travis Scott, titled Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho. The trio released hits like Dubai Shit, How You Feel and Where U From. Later, in 2018 he released his self titled album: Quavo Huncho. This album featured collaborations with artists like Lil Baby, Madonna, Cardi B, Kid Cudi and more.
Through his lyrics and energy, Quavo is sure to light up the LightsUp stage. We are so excited to welcome back the Penn State community by welcoming the legendary Quavo.
LightsUp will take place Thursday, August 28th on the Hub Lawn. I cannot wait to see you all there to kick off another great year of Movin’ On events.
