LightsUp 2025: Abhi The Nomad Takes the Stage

LightsUp is happening Thursday, August 28th on the HUB Lawn, and you won’t want to miss it. Here’s a look at the incredible performers who will be lighting up the stage.

This year’s LightsUp, hosted by the SPA and Movin’ On, features performances from student performers Tuck&Roll, Just, and KONDÉ, as well as headliner Quavo. Today, learn all about the alternative-hip-hop rapper kicking off LightsUp 2025: Abhi The Nomad.

Abhi The Nomad is an alternative-hip-hop rapper, singer and producer who was born in Chennai, India and has lived in six different countries, and has said that his immigrant background has given him a drive for music in an eclectic music style. 

Abhi The Nomad has released four studio albums and has collaborated with many artists throughout his expansive career. With 552,083 monthly listeners on Spotify and over 48,000 followers on TikTok, Abhi The Nomad has a very dedicated fanbase. 

Abhi released his debut album, Marbled, in 2018 and the album included his most popular song, Sex n Drugs, which has accumulated 69,000 plays on Spotify and the music video for the song has received over 1 million views on the platform. 

This song popularized Abhi The Nomad and made him enter the mainstream rap scene- where he has now fully evolved his style to what it is today. As an independent artist, Abhi has achieved incredible statistics and has had his music played in thousands of homes, cars and at many get-togethers across the world. 

Abhi The Nomad has amassed over 307.8 million total streams on Spotify since the beginning of his career with the album, Marbled, in 2018. 

Abhi The Nomad is very upfront about his childhood travels and his immigrant background and references them as influences for him to proceed with rap and is trying to become a prominent Indian figure in the rap scene. Abhi sees his background as an advantage to music because he has more stories to share than others and can use his different cultural experiences to create his music.
